Have you noticed how more and more dog parents are dressing their fur babies up these days?  I don’t think I ever saw a dog dressed up or even realized that they could be dressed up when I was growing up.  Boy, that really dates me, doesn’t it!  But now, it’s not unusual to see dogs dressed in dog clothing everywhere you go.

There are those dogs that hate being dressed in dog clothes and accessories, those dogs that don’t mind it but tolerate it, and those that really like it!  Our two dogs, Teddy and Ash, absolutely hate being dressed up, but our late Scout, well…I think he just tolerated it.  He is really the only dog in our family that we have dressed up on occasions and that is because he allowed it!  I’m sure that in doggie heaven he is grateful that my daughter isn’t finding clothes for him to model around the house!

This is Scout dressed up in a hunting outfit.  My daughter went a little overboard with the outfit, but none the less, we all thought he was adorable!

Walking Boots

That’s not the case with our extended doggie family!  Those three dogs kind of like being dressed up!  When my son adopted Diesel from the animal shelter, my daughter made sure that Diesel was dressed up quite often.  She dressed that little guy up all of the time.

Cuteness Overload

And then my son got married and he and his wife got a friend for Diesel.  Her name is Tess and she likes being dressed up too!  And then came  Bella and we now have three grand dogs.  Bella is my daughter’s dog and this dog, well…when she gets dressed up in dog clothes and accessories, she sports her stuff in style!  That dog loves being dressed up!  She is a true Boomer Sooner!

Dog Dressed Up For Game Day

Of course, the most likely time to dress your dog up is on Halloween.  We had the kids over to eat on Halloween evening and they brought their dogs dressed in their Halloween costumes.  They were so adorable that I just have to show them off!  Bella is the football player.  Her little costume was so cute with her little football that bounced in front of her chest every time she moved.  Little Tess is the alligator and she was chomping at the bit to go greet the trick-or-treaters!

Dogs In Halloween Outfits

Diesel was bad to the bone and his little costume was just perfect!  I think he thinks so too 🙂  What do you think?

Dog dressed up for Halloween

If you are thinking about dressing your precious pup in dog clothing, you can find just about anything imaginable for your dog these days!  There are Christmas outfits, hoodies, t-shirts, dresses, doggie wedding outfits and the list goes on and on.

Diesel the Boxer Mix

One item that you don’t want to do without is a dog coat if your dog is out in the cold during the winter.  It’s a good idea to dress your dog in a coat if you are taking them for a walk on a cold winter’s night or if your dog is going to be outside for awhile in the cold.  It’s better to be safe than sorry.

If you aren’t the type that likes to dress your dog in dog clothing, then you might want to check out some dog accessories.  You can find all kinds of different accessories to dress your pooch up a little!  We found dog jewelry such as dog hair clips and bow ties, along with bandanas and dog hats!  And of course, there are all kinds of dog collar accessories out there.

So, if you are wanting to dress your dog in dog clothes or just spruce their appearance up with some dog jewelry, there are plenty of stores online that you can refer to.  I’ve already decided that when we get our next pup, I’m going to start dressing him/her up at a young age so he/she gets used to it early! There are just too many cute doggie clothes out there to not have some fun with it!
