Dogs Won’t Be In The Dog House In Luxury Dog Friendly Cottages
For years, dog friendly holidays were confined to the choices of camping or caravanning. At a push, a dog friendly apartment might have been found but of such sub standard quality, even the dog didn’t want to lie down.
Phew and woof as a new wave of dog friendly accommodations are taking the whole of the UK by storm. Most dog owners will be asking, why has it taken so long? The chances are, any dog that goes on holiday with their owners will live indoors and most dog owners live in nice, clean houses with nice clean, well behaved dogs. So why for so long have these people had to stay in grotty holiday cottages or B & B’s or worse, decide not to take their beloved dog away with them? Expensive kenneling fees and the worry of leaving your dog as well as knowing you’d all much prefer being on holiday altogether, can often put a dampener on a trip.
Let’s face it, it’s far easier to go self catering when taking your four legged friend away with you. A self catering property often has outside space and is less cramped than a hotel room. Also, if Fido is a little on the noisy side, at least he’s only keeping you awake at night! To boot, there are now some not just “ooh this is a really nice cottage” but “wow, this cottage is absolute stunning” dog friendly cottages to rent, some being Visit England 4 and 5 star Gold Award properties.

The Lake District has long been popular with dog owners and walkers. The Lakeland fells, lakes and general landscape are a dream for dogs as well as the region as a whole being very dog friendly in terms of dog friendly pubs and shops. Combine all this with the Lake District’s choice of high quality holiday cottages and it’s not hard to understand why this National Park is leading the way in dog friendly self catering holidays. Luckily, holiday cottage owners are realizing the increase in dog owners and the popularity of holidaying with dogs and becoming dog friendly venues. More and more dog friendly Lake District cottages seem to be available and of the highest of standards. So dog owners out there, you’ll be quite surprised when looking for a dog friendly holiday this year, at the quality and choice of self catering cottages for rent in the Lake District. Just make sure when you go home Fido is with you as he’ll probably not want to leave!
