Giant George Book Review
At the time the book was written Giant George held two Guinness World Records! One for being the world’s biggest dog and the other for being the world’s tallest dog! This dog is huge! We thought Teddy was huge but Teddy isn’t anything compared to Giant George! Giant George is a doggie superstar…well, of course he is…he holds two world records!
This book tells the extraordinary story about George growing up from a puppy to an adult. I tell ya, he has had one exciting life! He even got to be on the Oprah show! How neat is that! They flew him to Chicago with his parents and he got to sit with his parents in the airplane. They even bought airplane seats just for him. See, we could have flown with our parents to the Bahamas in the airplane. If George could do it, we could to!
What mom found interesting was that Giant George is a lot like our Teddy. Teddy has some Great Dane in him but mom always thought the reason he was scared of everything is because of his being abandoned when he was a puppy. But Giant George acts a lot like our Teddy. Giant George is scared of water, scared of being alone and he is scared of dogs that are way littler than him. He sounds just like Teddy! George has an awesome personality. In fact, they call him Gentle George a lot in the book.
This book tells about the trials and tribulations of raising a dog that just keeps getting bigger and bigger. In fact, when his human parents got George he was the runt of the litter and they never expected him to grow into the biggest dog in the world. Kind of amazing, huh! The book tells how Dave and Christie, his human parents, went about getting him qualified to enter the Guinness World Records and what they had to go through for him to be named the World’s Tallest Dog and the World’s Biggest Dog!
One thing my mom told me that I thought was pretty cool is that George has his very own mattress to sleep on! Yeah…like they went to a mattress store and bought him a queen size mattress to put on the floor for George to sleep on! Now, to me, that dog has got it made! I have to sleep at the foot of mom’s bed:( I don’t think mom would ever go as far as buying me my own mattress!
If you are in the mood for reading a doggie book, this is a great book! The book makes you feel like you know George and his family personally. George is a very special dog and this book is written in a way that you totally understand and love George. We give this book a five paws up! Mom loved it and so did we…even if we couldn’t read it ourselves!
