Independence Day

Oh dog, we love the 4th of July!  Our human sis is home from college and we are all just hanging out today!  Us dogs from Dogs N Pawz wanted to wish all you dogs and your humans a happy 4th!  What are you guys doing today?  Our humans are going to grill out, we are going to swim and tonight we are going to sit outside and watch the fireworks display from our backyard!  OMD, we are so excited!

Our mom was telling us 4th of July stories and there was one that us dogs especially liked!  Mom was little, like around 5 years old and her family always went to live on the farm in the summer for harvest.  Her parents knew the fireworks distributor in that area and around the 4th they would always take her to pick out fireworks.  They would give her a big cardboard box and she would get to fill it up with all the fireworks she wanted.  Oh dog, wouldn’t that be awesome!

Mom would keep her fireworks under her bed until the 4th when they would shoot them and celebrate!  On this one 4th of July, mom was so excited to shoot off her fireworks cause she had picked out some really good ones 😉   She went to bed ready for the next day to come.  Her fireworks were hidden underneath her bed all ready for the 4th.  Now, I don’t know about you dogs but we told mom that hiding the fireworks under her bed probably wasn’t the safest thing for her to do.  Oh well!

In the middle of the night her dad woke her up all excited and made her get out of bed and get out of the house.  She couldn’t figure out what was going on until she got outside.  Oh dog, their house was on fire 🙁   She sat in the yard and watched all of her fireworks go off in the fire.

Their house burned down completely and all they had left was what they were wearing.  Mom says it was an awesome fireworks display but that wasn’t how she had planned for her fireworks to be set off!  So…that is our little bit of July 4th nostalgia!

Have a great 4th of July and be safe!
