Having a dog can be such a great part of your life. Not only can your pooch feel like your best friend, but also like they’re a part of the family. It’s no surprise that when you need to travel, or are headed on vacation, you want to take your dog with you too.

When you decide to travel with your pet, you really do need to make sure that they are safe and secure. If you want to make sure that they are just as protected as you are when you travel, regardless of the mode of transport you take, here are some tips to consider.

In The Car

Sometimes, it’s easy to throw your dog in the car next to you and just head out. But, it’s time to ask yourself whether that’s really the safest way to go about transporting your dog in the car? When they’re sitting up in the seat next to you, they could distract you, cause an accident, and then not be protected while in the accident. Instead, you should take a crash-tested crate to carry them in. You also need to be responsible about taking water and taking regular breaks too.

On A Plane

When you head out on vacation, and you’re taking a plane, you may still have the option to take your dog with you. To be sure, before you book your flights, you’re going to want to check the regulations each airline service has. To give you an idea, American Airlines does let you carry on or check your pets, including dogs, depending on their breed and size. To be 100% sure, you will need to talk to the airline directly about your dog.

On A Motorcycle

Although you may think that it’s not safe to carry your dog on your motorcycle, it’s a perfectly respectable way to transport your pooch. But, it’s best to be safe than to be sorry. You’re going to want to make sure that you not only do your research but also find the right motorcycle dog carrier for both your pet and your bike. Also make sure that you’re riding extra carefully when they’re on board.

On A Boat

If you’re planning on heading out to sea or spending a lot of time on your boat over the summer, you might wonder if it’s a good idea to take your dog or not. Well, as this couple has shown, you can definitely have a great time on deck with your pet. You need to make sure that you help them adapt to their new surroundings and provide comforts for them also.

And When You Get There?

And then, when you finally get to your desired destination, you’re also going to need to make sure that their needs are catered for too. Be sure to call ahead and check what your accommodations can offer. You might also want to pack their dog bed and toys so that they can feel right at home.
