Have you heard about the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study?  The information learned in the study will give all dogs a brighter and healthier future and since I had a Lab that had cancer, I was excited to help spread the word.  Did you know that 1 in 4 dogs over the age of 2 will die from cancer and that 60% of Goldens develop some form of cancer?  Those odds stink.

The Morris Animal Foundation needs you to enroll your Golden Retriever so they might learn how to prevent cancer and other diseases that take the lives of our dogs too soon.  When I checked their website this morning, 1,061 Goldens have been signed up.  They need 1,939 more.  Can you help?

Stop Dog Cancer
Man’s best friend definitely deserves the best medicine out there, so that’s why Morris Animal Foundation, a nonprofit working tirelessly towards improving animal health, is launching The Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.  This study will research how to prevent and treat canine cancer and other diseases affecting dogs.  Cancer is the main cause of death for dogs older than two, so being able to prevent this terrible disease could mean a lot more dogs leading healthier and longer lives.  Morris Animal Foundation needs to sign up 3,000 Golden Retrievers for this study, and we would greatly appreciate any help that you can give in helping us to reach this number.

If you would like to sign your dog up for this study, the qualifications include:

  • Golden Retriever owners must be over 18 years old and reside in the contiguous United States in order to participate.
  • Golden Retrievers must be healthy and less than two years old.
  • Golden Retrievers also must have a three-generation pedigree.

In order to participate, owners will fill out questionnaires and bring their dogs in for annual check-ups at the vet.  To learn more, visit The Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.  Thank you for your help!
