Thursday Barks And Bytes: Let’s Make A Difference!
This picture still breaks mommy’s heart…and because of Babe and many other dogs needing forever homes and millions of others that have been euthanized, we told mommy that we should embark on a project to help animal shelters and we are hoping you will join in our cause!
If you aren’t aware of Babe’s story, she was at our Edmond Animal Shelter for a very long time and was euthanized a couple of days before Christmas. The volunteers at the shelter were very close to Babe and needless to say, it was a very sad situation. Our animal shelter isn’t a NO-KILL shelter, which makes us very sad. Because of Babe and many other dogs and cats at our animal shelter and animal shelters around the world, we thought it might be a good idea if bloggers from all around the world came together and wrote stories about their dogs that they have saved from an animal shelter, a rescue or from the streets. Even if you aren’t a blogger, you can submit your story!
We know there are a lot of heartwarming stories out there and we thought that if we took them and put them in a Kindle Book it would help get the word out about how great shelter animals are! We thought we would start with a book about dogs and if it went over well, we could do one about cats!
50% 75% of the profits will be donated to animal shelters, 25% will be donated to Paws for Life, Inc. in Edmond, and even better, we will be spreading the word about shelter animals. So what do you think? Would you like to join us?
Here’s what we need in order to consider your submission for inclusion in our book about rescue dogs:
- If you have your own blog – One of your favorite posts about your dog that you rescued. It would be best if it is an unpublished post, but a published post is okay too. The post should include at least one picture and be fairly short. Around 500 to 1,000 words is probably ideal but if you go over, that is okay too! Your picture should be of good quality and be as sharp and as large as possible! A picture with width of 1500 to 2000 and a height of around 2500 would be good, bigger would be even better. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to include photos that are too small or out of focus. After writing about this project the first time, we received many questions about the size of the pictures because many of your photos were taken way back when! If that is the case, send us your pictures anyway and we’ll see what we can do. We want your stories so please send them even if the pictures aren’t as big as we stated above.
- If you don’t have a blog – but you have a great story about your rescue dog, that’s okay too! We want to hear it and we can still publish it! So, get busy writing and send it!
- A separate photograph of your rescue dog – This would be a cute photo of your rescue dog doing something fun or doing nothing at all. These pictures will be included at the end of the book. These pictures also need to be of good quality and as sharp and as large as possible.
- If you are a blogger, your submission will have a link to your site, so please include your URL if applicable. Your submission in the Kindle Book will link directly to your site so you will be getting some link juice from the Kindle Book! We will also feature all of the bloggers and non-bloggers on our blog, so you will be getting a little bit more exposure that way!
This book will be published as a Kindle Book (available in all popular formats) and I’m also hoping to have it available in Hardcopy through Amazon.
**Send submissions and or questions to firstname.lastname@example.org and in the Subject Area of your email, please put Rescue Story**
At first we said the submissions had to be in by January 31st, but we are extending the date to February 28th to give you more time. Please join us in this cause to help increase the awareness of shelter animals. Please share this in your social media channels and help us get the word out!
You can find out more here and see our book about Diesel! It features Diesel and his mommy in hopes that his mommy will find a forever home!
