When I was asked by John Morris to review his book, I was curious because the book was a cookbook for dogs.  I thought it looked cute and out of curiosity, I agreed to review it!  The book he sent me is called Pastry for Poodles by Chef Fifi LeFay!

John sent me a letter with the book explaining that the idea behind Cookbooks from The Canine Cuisine Team is that dogs should get a chance to have cookbooks written for them and by them.  What a great idea!  He has 7 other books written by 7 of the most popular breeds in America and they are also cooking up great dishes.  These books will be published soon.

John also explains that the recipes aren’t really suppose to be make-able but are suppose to be more for fun.  He did however say that he has made the recipes, so I guess it is up to you whether you try them or not!

The book was an easy read and I do have to say it was rather cute!  Chef Fifi introduces you to some tasty treats like Fresh Blueberry Tarts with a Tease, Rum/Vanilla Madeleines, Brie en Croute with Garnishes, Le Croissants, Creme Puffs and Eclairs and the Le Napoleon.  She shows us that cooking isn’t hard and that instead, it is really fun!

Chef Fifi not only shows us how to cook in this book, but she incorporates her French background into it as well.  She entertains us with some French trivia while she is teaching us how to cook.  Chef Fifi is very proper and you will smile as you read the book and picture her in the kitchen!  She will show you how to bake some of the tastiest treats this side of the Seine!

Here are some more cookbooks that are in the works from The Canine Cuisine Team:

  • Barbeque for Bulldogs ~ Chef Butch Waddley
  • Spaghetti for Sheepdogs ~ Mona Lassie Buonarroti
  • Tex-Mex for Terriers ~ Chef Terry Scraps
  • Kung Pao for Pekingese ~ Chef Suzie Snow Peas
  • Seafood for Schnauzers ~ Barnacle Bill Barker
  • Leftovers for Labs ~ Chef Maggie Scroungehound
  • Risky Dishes for Rescue Dogs ~ Howie “Homeboy” MacScruff

How cute are those titles and author names?  These would make great gifts and are affordable!  The Kindle Edition sells for $2.99 and the Paperback Edition sells for $9.49. Click on the book cover below to find out more!
