We always prefer to see food manufacturers use whole meat sources as their primary ingredient because we believe whole meat gives dogs the best natural source of essential nutrients and hydration.

Brands such as Eagle Pack that favor using ground-up meat meals, however, do offer concentrated protein for a competitive price. As a result, despite being light on meat ingredients, Eagle Pack’s dry food range is only a little below the industry averages for protein, fat, and fiber.

Compared to other meal-based dry foods, Eagle Pack uses a pretty average recipe, with a handful of healthy fiber sources, such as flaxseed, alongside several borderline filler ingredients like ground corn.

Eagle Pack’s wet food range uses a preferable ingredient list compared to their dried products, with combinations of real meat and meat broths making up the primary ingredients in most flavors. We also like the use of ingredients such as oatmeal and tomato pomace in place of lower-value carbohydrates, which offer functional fiber and a minor additional source of amino acids and antioxidants.

While Eagle Pack appears to have no recall history within the FDA’s recalls and withdrawals database, other brands under the WellPet parent company do have a recent history with retractions.
