Nulo Dog Food: Review

Nulo’s brand is built on the principle that pet parents and their pets can be healthy together. Michael Landa was originally just a pet care enthusiast that started a dog sitting business. But he quickly noticed the sheer amount of overweight and diabetic pets. When he researched further, he learned that it’s because most pet foods contained a lot of high-glycemic ingredients (equivalent of fast food for pets). 

As a result, he decided to create Nulo. In 2009, he partnered with animal nutritionists and veterinarians to make dog food that is complete and balanced, provides a stable energy source, and contains easily digestible proteins. Nulo is headquartered in Austin, Texas. All of their dry, canned, and freeze-dried raw recipes are manufactured in the United States. We know Nulo is a quality brand, but their best dry food is worthy of an Owen Wilson “Wow”. This recipe is made with physique and health in mind, I think I could use it…don’t worry I won’t, but your dog should. It is packed full of protein with 30%, well above the industry average of 26.5%. It is low in fat but has good kinds (omegas). It is high in fiber, and if you read reviews you’ll find out this recipe is great for dogs with stomach sensitivities or digestion issues. 

Besides the guaranteed analysis, the quality of ingredients also stands out as it is made using a grain-free recipe. And is in fact made from 74% animal-based proteins, and low glycemic ingredients. Can Nulo’s wet food be just as good as its dry food? Let’s do an expose to find out. This wet food by Nulo has 10% protein, higher than the 8.6% industry average. It is made using beef, turkey beef broth, and beef liver as it’’s first 4 ingredients, which are all extremely good sources of protein and healthy fats. It’s next 3 ingredients are peas, carrots, and ground flaxseed, which means it has easily digestible carbs, and a nice fiber supplement (flax). 

This recipe is grain-free, and also contains pure probiotic strains, which aid proper digestion. Like Nulo’s top dry food it had calcium and phosphorus for your dog to maintain strong bones. Amino acids are aplenty in this recipe to support lean mass gain and a healthy heart! In summation, Nulo has outdone itself with this wet food, and it matches their dry food. Gray yourself a few cans, maybe even some for your dog while you’re at it.
